CMS plugins

Perhaps one of the most useful features of modern Content Management Systems, or CMSs, is the ability to easily integrate new features via plug-ins (also called modules or add-ons depending on the CMS). Here are some SMO and SEO plug-ins for our favorite CMSs:
for Wordpress:
- Google XML Sitemap Creator – This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and Ask.com to better index your blog.
- Google Analyticator – We like this one so much we use it on this website. Google Analyticator adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google Analytics logging on any WordPress blog. This eliminates the need to edit your template code to begin logging. Google Analyticator also includes several widgets for displaying Analytics data in the admin and on your blog.
- Google Analytics for Wordpress – The Google Analytics for WordPress plugin automatically tracks and segments all outbound links from within posts, comment author links, links within comments, blogroll links and downloads. It also allows you to track AdSense clicks, add extra search engines, track image search queries and it will even work together with Urchin.
- Platinum SEO Pack – This is the SEO pack our blog uses! Features include automatic 301 redirects, canonical urls, automated meta tagging, optimized blog titles and more.
- Michael Gray’s CMS Plug-in Recommendations
- All SEO plug-in for Wordpress – Because there are many many more Wordpress plug-ins (at current count over 377!) there is no way we can test them all. If you find one you like please tell us.
for Drupal:
- Google Analytics Module – The go to module for integrating Analytics tracking in Drupal.
- Google Analytics API Module – takes data from your Google Analytics reports via the Analytics API and inserts it directly into the Drupal console.
- Robots.txt – Allows you to edit your robots file directly from the admin interface.
- XML Sitemap – The XML sitemap module creates a sitemap that conforms to the sitemaps.org specification. This helps search engines to more intelligently crawl a website and keep their results up to date.

for Plone:
- Plone 3.0.1 and above includes built-in support for Javascript based web statistics services, such as Google Analytics. To enable statistics collection, go to Site Setup -> Site -> JavaScript for web statistics support.
- Plone SEO – A Quintagroup Search Engine Optimization tool. This plug-in helps create more visibility for Plone sites in Search Engines.
- Analytics for Plone – An add-on that provides simple integration with Google Analytics. Note that in Plone 3.0+ this plug-in is not necessary as Analytics support is built right in.
for Joomla!:
- J!Analytics module – J!Analytics is a Joomla 1.5 only module which inserts Google Analytics code into your web site pages. Does not yet support the async code.
- Asynchronous Google Analytics – A simple plug-in that supports Google’s new Async tags.

for Django:
- Django is still developing its plug-in architecture but here are some useful resources anyway:
- Django Google Analytics – This Google Code project’s author says, “I need different Google Analytics codes depending on the sites and after sticking these tags into every single template, I thought it would be cool to be able to manage these Google analytics accounts from the Django admin page.”

- Django SEO Tools – This Google Code project promises to be the one stop shop for all Django SEO tools.
